Premier league side Chelsea have set their eyes on the Real Madrid want-away star Mateo Kovacic after the Croatian turned down a move to Manchester united, according to reports.

Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato have reported that the Blues are keen to get the signature of the Croatian midfielder.

Ever since the midfielder expressed his desire to look for a new side in May, the 24-year old has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital. The meeting with the newly appointed manager Julen Lopetegui didn’t change his plans as he still wants a move.

On the other hand, new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri wants to bolster his midfield in order to build a competitive side, that could challenge for the trophies in 2018/19.
