In the midst of celebration after the Champions league final the duo of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale cast doubts over their future at the Spanish capital for next season.
A nail bitting final ended 3-1 in favour of Real Madrid as the Spanish giants created history by becoming the first team in the world to win the UEFA Champions league three times in a row. Mane levelled the scoreline for the Reds after Benzema put Madrid ahead in the first half. Gareth Bale came in as a substitute and won the game for Los Blancos with a brace, which includes one of the greatest UCL final goals. The Man of the match performance by Bale ensured Madrid lifts their 4th UCL title in last 5 years.
When everything was going too good for Madrid fans, statements by the Portuguese and the Welsh could be a thing to worry about. After the match winning game, Bale said he needed to be a starter and wants to play week in week out and would like to talk about his future with his manager. On the other hand, Ronaldo preferred addressing his time at Real in the past tense and he said he isn’t sure about his future at the Bernabeu. The future of both the Superstars now lies on their hands and could be a bad news for the Madridistas all around the world.
Bale, who was adjudged man of the match, said: “I need to be playing week in week out, and that’s not happened this season for one reason or another. I had a five- or six-week injury at the start of the season and I’ve been fit ever since so now I have to sit down in the summer and discuss it with my agent and take it from there.”
Ronaldo looked certain that his future could be elsewhere other than the Spanish capital. “It’s been very nice to be at Madrid,” he said. “In the coming days I will give a response to the fans because they actually have always been at my side.”
There are a lot of theories behind Ronaldo’s shocking statement. One of them being Ronaldo’s concern that there is a lack of support from the President Florentino Perez compared to what the Portuguese gets from his fans. On the other hand, some people think that the five-time Champions league winner is annoyed over the fact that he hasn’t gotten the hike in his salary, which was promised in the beginning of the season. This is not the first time where Ronaldo admitted his unhappiness and wanted a way out, but every incident ended with Ronaldo staying at Bernabeu.
When Perez was asked the same, he said the time wasn’t right to worry about individual players. He responded by saying: “Now is not the time for individual issues. There’s always lots of noise and then nothing happens.”
Also Taking a jibe at his records in Champions league Ronaldo suggested they should rename the European cup. He said: “The Champions League should change and be called the CR7 Champions league. I have won five and I am the [top] goalscorer again.”
He later admitted that he was wrong in putting his future talks in the midst of the celebration, but he would let the fans know about his future life at Madrid. He expressed, “I can’t hide that [I have something to say]. It wasn’t the right moment because of the history of the club.”
If the two superstars leave the club in the summer then this could be the worst final experience for all the Madrid supporters. It is still be to seen, how the story turns out to be in the future.
