Real Madrid is interested in signing Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling, according to reports in England.
Real Madrid lost the club’s all-time top goalscorer in the summer as Ronaldo decided to sign for the Serie A side Juventus. After playing nine long years for the whites, the Portuguese switched to Italy.
Los Blancos got a hefty amount from the Italian giants for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. However, Real Madrid has failed to fill the void left after the departure of Ronaldo. The Spanish giants couldn’t sign a replacement for the former number 7.
According to Sky Sports, Real Madrid have shown interest in signing the Three Lion’s winger in the summer.
The 23-year old forward has two years left on his contract with Manchester City and has no intention of extending it for more years. Sterling didn’t answer to club’s proposal of extending his contract before the start of 2018 FIFA World Cup.
With Cristiano gone, Real Madrid would like to add more firepower to the attacking department. Sterling, who had a great season last year with 18 goals to his name, is considered to be one of the options for Los Blancos.
With only 24 months left on his contract, Manchester City will try to get Sterling into putting a sign on the contract extension. Otherwise, the Premier League Champions would be forced to sell the English star in the summer next year.
